The BorPres project successfully completed the 1st Stakeholder Consultation Workshop, which took place on May 26, 2023, at the “Lazaros Nalpantidis” Multi-Purpose Hall in Prespa Town Hall, Lemos. The workshop aimed to discuss the new opportunities for tourism and local development following the opening of the new border crossing point at Prespa.
The BorPres project, titled “Prespa Border Station: Preparatory actions for the installation of the Border Crossing Point between Greece and the Republic of North Macedonia in the area of Lake Prespa” is a collaborative initiative coordinated by the Ministry of the Interior (Sector Macedonia and Thrace). Its main objective is to explore and enhance the tourism potential in the Prespa cross-border area.
The Stakeholder Consultation Workshop brought together regional and local stakeholders from Greece, including government officials, representatives from the tourism industry, and local organizations. These diverse participants actively contributed their insights to shape the action plan for managing and enhancing tourist flows following the opening of the border crossing point at Prespa.
The event marked the first of two workshops planned in the cross-border region of Greece and the Republic of North Macedonia, with the goal of fostering collaboration and gathering valuable insights from local and regional organizations and institutions—the workshop aimed to facilitate dialogue and encourage cooperation toward sustainable tourism development in the area.
The BorPres project partnership includes the Region of Western Macedonia and the Ministry of the Interior (Sector Macedonia and Thrace) from Greece, ANKO Western Macedonia S.A. / Organization for Local Development from Greece, and the Ministry of Interior from the Republic of North Macedonia.
